Conditions
Aortic Aneurysm
An aortic aneurysm is an abnormal ballooning or bulging of a section of the aorta due to weakness in the artery wall, sometimes called "the silent killer" because it often produces no warning signs before it ruptures. We recommend an annual screening for all men over 40. For appropriate candidates, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) is a minimally invasive technique that places a stent-graft inside the aorta through a small incision in the groin, with a recovery time of only 2 to 6 weeks.
