Conditions
Mitral Regurgitation
Mitral regurgitation occurs when the mitral valve does not close completely, allowing blood to leak backward into the upper chamber of the heart. This can cause the heart to work harder and may lead to shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling, or heart failure. For appropriately selected patients, MitraClip™ is a minimally invasive, catheter-based procedure that uses a small clip to help the mitral valve close more effectively.
